Is Fasting Effective For Female Fat Loss?

I have been asked this question time and time again, “Does fasting work for fat loss and do you fast Flavia?”

–>  My answer is always the same, “yes and yes” but it isn’t that simple.

One huge myth for fat loss is that eating too little will make you skinny. The truth is that eating too little will likely do the opposite or it will ROB you of nutrients and make you very unhealthy.

FACT:

Eating less than your body requires will slow your metabolism, making weight loss impossible and will negatively affect your health.

FASTING
***********

Presently I am not fasting. I am too lean to even consider depriving my body of the nutrients it needs when I am eating fewer calories than usual and working out with extra intensity as I get ready for my photoshoot, which btw, is less than 3 WEEKS!!!

Going back to the “yes” response to fasting, I usually add one to two days of fasting a month, mostly to give my body a break from digestion and of course to cut some calories that week.

√  Data shows that intermittent fasting, when done properly, might help extend life, regulate blood glucose, control blood lipids, manage body weight and more (Dr. John Berardi).

The truth is fasting is NOT for everyone. It is simply another tool to fat loss. Some people love not having to make meals, worry about taking the time to eat, or find it is just so easy not to eat.

I am not one of those people, I love to eat…but I do think fasting is effective if done properly.

Here is a new Intermittent Fasting program that was created by a couple of smart guys that I know first hand practice what they preach.

Have a look at their reasons to why Intermittent Fasting is so effective for fat loss below:

If you are doing Full-Body-Licious and are getting great results, stick to what you know works for you, but in case you are interested in fasting, have a peak at Fat Loss Forever. It is $30 off till Thursday.

    Hey Flavia,

I like the way you presented this info. It seems like every time you turn around there is something new about managing your diet. The thing I like is your statement of

“stick to what you know works for you”. It can be very confusing for the lay person on the info out there.
I am a trainer, RN, and degree in nutrition and currently taking Jon Berardi’s course. I have a pretty good background on nutrition. I find that things get confusing for people because one minute it’s presented to eat 5-6 meals a day….make sure every time you eat combine protein, fat and carbs, ….then don’t eat fat if you’re eating carbs….then its don’t eat anything until dinner…..fast for 24 hours…..anyway you get it.

For most people they are just trying to lose some weight, get fit, develop some muscle but the majority are not looking to get shredded. I think if our population , which is in dire help of nutritional and exercise education , just cleaned up their diets, stopped eating out of a box, eating out all the time and stuck to fresh foods, prepared at home our epidemic of diabetes, obesity and just plain unhealthy lifestyles would improve.

On the note of fasting …..i know this has to be done in a specific way in order to obtain the results it is intended for. That means specific supplements etc….This sometimes gets out of hand too….so for the layperson, understanding and spending $$ on supplements is really not feasible . I think that most people who see this info will just see it as fasting…..don’t eat anything except consumption of fluids and will miss the other components of it. They will basically not eat and then binge on that next meal.

As for me…..I do embrace a very clean diet, little carbs, except at specific times, etc….train hard and love the very lean shredded physique. I am not the norm.

Sooooo………basically i want to thank you for making the statement to stick with what works for you because that is very important for people to understand.

About a month ago I met you and your husband through a mutual friend. Ben P. I am not in the industry, and frankly I am not in very good shape. But after seeing your body Ive been working out and eating healthy every since, with good results. Thanks for the inspiration. We did not talking fitness etc this was just a casual introduction but just looking at you made me want to better myself..And I asked Ben WHO IS THAT WOMAN?? Now that’s what I call a body!! Thanks again..for having a SICK body so I realized how out of shape I’d become. 🙂 You look amazing.
