As We Think, So We Become

I was inspired by my farther in Love, Pappa Luch, who explained to me that what we say to our life partners they often become. This had me thinking that not only do I have a huge responsiblity to my husband to continually affirm him, I also have the responsibility to affirm myself.

Words are powerful but our own minds are more powerful. This could be positive or negative depending on what you allow your mind to think.  As the mind is nothing but thoughts, whatever is in our mind will reflect in our words and in turn, words manifest as actions, actions form habits and habits make character.

What we consistently cultivate in our minds determines our character and thus, our destiny. Man is the architect of his destiny. If we want to succeed we had to think that we WILL succeed.

My famous (or soon to be) quote that I say too often, “Not with that attitude you won’t”. It works on myself and others, you have my full permission to use it.

It’s like the little engine that could in Dumbo, “I think I can, I think I can, I think I can”.

GO – BE  – DO!

What are ways you overcome negative self-talk?

Thanks Flavia I always look forward to your e-mails! Nice office, love the window! Thanks for sharing. it is so important to have positive thinking! I was starting to get discouraged but your blog post helped to pick me up a bit 🙂

  • Neutralizing negative thoughts is a hard one for a lot of people. I am not a psychologist or a psychiatrist, but I know that our thoughts effect our physiology. I am a Chiropractic Neurologist (Functional Neurologist). By learning how to neutralize negative thoughts we actually grow better cells in our bodies. We are like computers only better. We do not forget, but we are capable of forgiving. And these 4 Steps Of Forgivness, if done as you are falling asleep, will help you to neutralize the effects of negative thought on your body. How one knows when to do forgivnesses is by asking yourself “Is there something that has happened that I wish did not happen or that I wished turned out differently? If yes, it is probably the first thing on your mind when you wake up or the last thing you think about when falling asleep. This is how you use the steps. Plug in a person or a situation in the first blank and then the negative feeling in the nest blank spot.
    1. I forgive ________ for causing me feelings of _________.
    2. I give _______ permission to forgive me for causing any feelings of ________.
    3. I forgive myself for allowing feelings of ________ to effect my health.
    4. See the good in the lesson.
That’s it! I hope you find this as helpful as many of my patients have.
Flavia, your home is beautiful and I know that you and Vince have worked very hard to obatain your goals. You are a darling couple and I am so happy for you, and anyone like you, whom works hard towards their goals and does not give up their path of progression in all facets of life.
P.S. Research has shown that people that do these “Steps Of Forgivness” have faster recovery from injury. So it would make sense that if one is body building, their recovery would be more efficient.

The window in your office space is great!!

If I get negative thoughts on my mind I try to accept that they are there. Then I say to my self Cancel Cancel Cancel. Then I change those thoughts into the flip side and make them positive. It takes some practice but it really makes you feel better.

    Flavia,
Your new house is very nice. I’m with you, there is nothing like building your own house. I moved to mine about 2 years ago and I love it. You choose everything that goes in it, colors, carpet, etc.
Anyways, a few months back I discoveted EFT tapping, which has helped me to get rid of some fears and also it is working with motivation as well.
If anyone is interested, go to

At the beginning I rejected Tapping because it seemed unscientific and silly, but I tried anyways and it worked for me. It doesnt hurt to try it.
And of course, reading your blog is my biggest motivation. Need to get on it more often.
