Hi , you are my inspiration and I ope I can look as amazing as you in a few months I’ve been working hard at it now for over two months and lost 5 kgs, got 5 to go..at a bit of a standstill at the moment but I’m getting there..
I wish you well in your diet drama with your daughter, I too had a c section 30 yrs ago mind you, and my son has irritable bowel, allergic to dairy and wheat, but he’s healthy, fit and sensational..
I hope you can work it out , I took him off dairy when he was a baby, took myself off all this went from naturopath to specialist, drove me crazy, but difference being I didn’t breast feed but I did express..it’s so hard being a mum cause you want the best, and there’s no parenting bible to hide ou it’s all trial and error, good luck hon, it will get better and you will get sleep and get back on your probiotics and way of living. I’m so glad I found your site, yo have given me great inspiration help and guidance I will be forever grateful cheers Annie x

Congratulations on the birth of your daughter. I have a fifteen year old who has had digestive problems since her premature birth at 15 mos. She had her gallbladder removed at 18 mos. which stopped her colic immediately. She has not eaten any meat or fish for three years; her diet consisting of vegetables, pastas, grains, and dairy. She had appendicitis two years ago and had her appendix removed before it ruptured. Now she has digestive issues including not being able to completely digest her food. My wife a nurse has her eating foods that are supposedly easy to digest but almost no veges except the easy to digest ones. No greens. She has been diagnosed as lactose intolerant so she is eating lactaid dairy products. Her mom feels she has delayed gastric emptying or gastroparesis.

    What’s a father to do?

Mike, have you had her screened for celiac? she is certianly at risk for iron defiency anemia and maybe even B12; zinc , calcium and vitamin D could also be concerns unless she is consuming a large number of dairy servings. All these nutrients are critical for a female teenager. If she is not on supplments then that should be considered with the help of a health professional. I also wonder if she has tried a high dose of probiotics and omega 3 fish oils. Both of those are very important nutrients for gut health and immunity.
A visit to an pediatric gastroenterologist may be required if not seen already but then again at 15 and living with these problems for so long she probably has seen one and was put through an upper and lower GI scope.
      Best of luck.

Thanks Jenn. She is getting supplements, takes probiotics and just started on Miralax. Already had the scope and it did not reveal any reflux surprisingly but she still gets heartburn and constipation. Mother thinks its a motility issue as in gastroparessis. So physician is increasing Miralax for a couple of days and then scaling back.

      Hey are you a nutritionist?
      Thanks for your thoughts.

    Hey Flav,
You’re doing great! Most women would give up at this point and give her formula! But stay strong. You’re an inspiration to all of us, especially new moms who second guess their decisions all the time. Have you tried running an ALCAT test on both you and Milia for food allergies, sensitivity, and intolerance? That might help you see what is causing the gas. If she is still gassy after 7 days, it’s still something in her gut that is not communicating properly to the digestive system. Poor thing, both of you. In my prayers! <3

    Hello,
I love the way you share your personal experiences with pregnancy and mothering with all of your readers. I wish the internet was so advanced when I was in my childbearing years! I do have a suggestion for you. Have you tried Chiropractic? My husband has been in practice for over 25 years. He sees babies every day.(happy mothers too!) Chiropractic treatment of infantile colic is well documented. There are many chiropractors who specialize in pediatric chiropractic as well. Chiropractic is not just about a functioning skeletal system, but more about a functioning nervous system. Keep up the good work!

Dr. Seuss, of course — was an exacting author. He would sometimes take up to a year to complete a book, throwing away pages and pages of content until he was happy with it. And during that time, he wasn’t getting paid (for that book, at least) because he didn’t like taking advances on his work. He wanted to make money only after his work began to generate money.
